“The heart of the Waldorf method is that education is an art – it must speak to the child’s experience. To educate the whole child, his heart and his will must be reached, as well as the mind.” – Rudolf Steiner

***
At Rosewood, children are encouraged to explore their environment, take healthy risks, and partake in meaningful work, such as farming, gardening and cooking, and other practical experiences.

Waldorf Philosophy is based on the deep understanding of child development and as such children learn the essential skills they need for future academic pursuits based on their age and development.

***

In a Waldorf Kindergarten children are not introduced to any academic concepts, including basics like writing letters and such.  In Waldorf Education formal reading, writing, and math academic instruction begins in 1st grade.
