Acceptance to Rosewood Nature School
Rosewood DOESN'T follow "a first come, first serve" approach.
Acceptance is based on aligned interests and philosophy and the school’s ability to meet the child’s needs, the child’s ability to function in the class, and the family’s willingness to support Waldorf education by providing a healthy and nurturing home.
Suitable applicants for preschool and kindergarten are children whose developmental, social, and learning potential is such that they may be able to function harmoniously within groups of fifteen or fewer and whose parents are willing to work with the teachers to support the well-being of the individual child, while also bearing in mind the needs of all the children within the group.
Face-to-face engagement and participation in the building of a positive school community culture is a requirement
We also rely in the child's previous school records -if applicable, including any previous testing and evaluations (e.g. children with special needs).
Toilet status (fully toilet independence) is also very well considered.
Re-enrollment for the child each subsequent year honors the above criteria. Should it become evident that the criteria are no longer being met, the school will counsel the family to seek a more appropriate placement for the child elsewhere.
Rosewood Nature School is a non-sectarian and non-denominational organization and welcome children of all religious, spiritual, social, and cultural backgrounds regardless of their race, color, sex, national, or ethnic origin. Each student is granted all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to all students. Furthermore, Rosewood Nature School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national, or ethnic origin, sexual orientation or gender preferences in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies or other school-administrated programs. Regarding other specifications that are not mentioned in this admittance policy Rosewood Nature School reserves the right of Admission.
We believe that the healing power of Nature and the holistic approach of our educational philosophy is beneficial to ALL children. We also believe that, although; certain learning differences don’t show up as challenging in other type of schools settings, a student who needs constant supervision and redirection, has communication challenges and need of individualized attention due to their special needs (mental, emotional, physical, language, behavioral etc), our school setting, philosophy and organizational structure are probably not a good fit. Rosewood Nature School is not structured, staffed, equipped or funded to offer that kind of specialized service. However, If you have any questions about your child being able to participate in any of our program, please contact us first. We are always open to communication and collaboration with parents. The final decision is made solely by the school and on a case-by-case basis".
